- Prior to the start of excavation and exploration of archeological sites, it is useful to make a quick 3D model of the ground, trees, and surrounding buildings so as optimize the installation of equipment and support infrastructures. During excavation has begun, a quick 3D model may provide a model of the excavation progress including the physical dimensions of the area and discovered features.
