Albatroz Engineering is a private company with a multidisciplinary approach to R&D. Its skills include electrical, electronics, robotics, computer science, mechanical, aerospace engineering and management. Albatroz Engineering created two innovative solutions for over-head power line inspections with integrated, interactive and real-time tools to improve quality of service while minimising maintenance costs. Its flagship product, Power Line Maintenance Inspection has been developed in three variants, two of which are already flying in Portugal and Spain. Its cost-effective LiDAR solution for vegetation management ("right-of-way") is used to inspect more than 15000km per year, making it the world leader in extension surveyed. Other prototypes or products include a railway inspection tool; a 3D modelling system for archaeology or virtual scenarios and a Laser Measurement Tool.Power Line Maintenance Inspection [PLMI]
PLMI is a solution designed for helicopter operation. It combines all sorts of airborne inspections and it demonstrated its efficiency with 1346 km of transmission lines inspected in 15 days These inspections included conductor anomaly detection using thermographic image analysis(infrared), physical anomaly registration using video images and track clearance inspection using laser (LIDAR). The aerial inspection system developed by Albatroz Engineering successfully inspected 19% of the portuguese transmission grid in only 15 working days. See our January newsletter for more information. The PLMI system has already been used to inspect in excess of 5000km since the beginning of 2008. Sea also the introduction to Power Line Maintenance Inspection. Ground Maintenance Inspection [GMI]The GMI is the solution for small grids and lines with a clear track beneath the conductors. In these scenarios, inspection from a ground vehicle is often the most efficient and Albatroz Engineering applied its know-how to create a new class of solutions for mobile ground inspections. See the February newsletter for more information. Read the introduction to Ground Maintenance Inspection. |
